About the Fun Day

Who are we?

ep-badgeWe are a small group of Essex Police Personnel, who in our spare time organise an annual fun day out to Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers for children with disabilities.

The day is aimed at children aged between 5 and 16 years who attend the many special schools and organisations around Essex. We do open up the event to siblings (although places are limited). From the feedback we receive this makes our day a unique and enjoyable day out for all the family.

Some of the committee and volunteers have been involved in the Fun Day since our first fun day in 1998, and the sun has generally shone!

What does the Day include?

Four-by-four-51-of-146

The event is held at Marsh Farm Country Park. The main attraction is the off road ride in 4 x 4 vehicles, some of which are fully operational Police vehicles, around a rugged off road track.

There will be sideshows, games, a treasure hunt to follow. We have a wonderful Children's entertainer who will thrill and amaze with his magic show. We hope to have a Fire Engine there too.

All of our guests will be able to visit the Marsh Farm attractions. The Marsh Farm customers, however are not able to access our event.

At the end of the day, everyone gathers together at the Magician's location for the Grand Finale where there will be prizes for the treasure hunt.

We have our own photographers taking pictures during the day of everyone having fun. The pictures are posted on our website soon afterwards. We will give you a password on the day in order to access the photographs.

We have a refreshment tent where Teas, Coffees, soft drinks, sweets and crisps are available. At lunchtime we have barbecued hotdogs and burgers for everyone.

Disabled Toilets and Baby Changing Facilities are available.

Travel arrangements

We do not have parking facilities at Marsh Farm for individual vehicles. We provide buses to bring you to the event.

We will however need to know if your child has particular needs when travelling, (eg if they need to travel in their own wheelchair)

We locate the boarding points for safety and convenience, however we cannot guarantee free parking nearby.

We aim to build and learn from our experiences and to show Essex Police and its personnel at its best. The focus of the day is not disability but having fun. Importantly we want to make this event one that people will want to tell their friends about it and to keep coming back to.

Marsh Farm

We have being coming to Marsh Farm since 2003. We feel that Marsh Farm has the right mix of activities and facilities and they always make us feel welcome

Marsh Farm Country Park is managed by The Party Man Company and provides an enjoyable and educational day out for all the family. It is a working farm were children can get close to farm animals and play safely in the adventure play areas. There is also a Country Park, which boasts excellent coastal walks and superb views of the River Crouch.
